6 Thinking hats
White Hat: The employee who has the white hat looks at the objectives and the required data information to back up the problems mentioned. This is the start of the process where all employees should address the information and the key ponts they would like to talk to resolve the problem. This white hat will solve the points and objectives the employees would like to talk about.
Red Hat: The employee with the red hat is meant to try and come up with ways of how they feel. This would be trying to find ways to see if the solution can be done in the long-run. Every employee has a different opinion, and this should be put down so that every opinion from the employees is taken into account. No employee opinion should be disregarded if they feel that something is not rite.
Black Hat: The employee with the black hat, their responsibility is to come up with negative ideas. This would be thinking critically not generically about the solution to a problem. Their job is to analyze what was been mentioned before moving onto the next hat. The question that will be asked is 'How will this project be able to run in the future?' 'What are the barriers that are holding every team member back?' These are just some questions the employees can ask themselves. Looking at the negative side helps analyze the solution to a problem in the future. What will not work if a particular solution was taken into account?
Yellow Hat: The employee with the yellow hat is designed to look at the positives to see how the problem will work in the future if resolved. This person has to think about the short-terms and the long-terms of the solution or any topic that has been mentioned. The same question that will always be asked is, 'Can the project work in the future?' Also, 'What are the benefits that can overrun the negatives?'. Looking at the positive side helps employees work more to these goals to overcome their problem.
Green Hat: The green hat is about coming up with new ideas that can help in the future. This is where the employee should think about what are the best opportunities to help themselves and their colleagues work effectively in the long-run. Put new ideas down, instead of keeping them in the brain makes life a lot easier. This helps employees to look at the other sides perspective.
Blue Hat: The blue hat is thinking about the overall process of what has been discussed using the six hats. This is where the employees should look back and see if they have generated all the rite ideas. Assessing themselves will help them become effective work colleagues in the future. Looking back at what has been put down on paper employees to become effective co-workers in the long-run.
